Nelson also played in the Collegiate Select Series last year, recording a pair of assists both of which came in the lone win for the Americans. This past season, Akervik finished 5-6-11 with a team-high 65 blocked shots. The Eau Claire, Wisconsin native has blocked 163 shots as a Maverick and has also recorded five power play goals and four game winning goals. To date in her career as a Maverick, Akervik has appeared in 119 games, scoring 17 goals and adding 28 assists for 45 career points. Akervik appeared in all three games in that series.
